2025 so far
It’s finally happened - I’m getting off of social media for the time being. I’ve temporarily deactivated my Facebook account and deleted Instagram, Threads, and Bluesky off my phone. I’m interested to see what happens to my brain in the next two weeks or so.
I also have no idea who will read this, since I won’t be posting that I’ve updated my blog anywhere. A conundrum, but that’s okay.
One of the things that I’ve been focused on for 2025 is only having one project going at a time, and for the first two months of this year, that has actually been the case! I have been working on graphic novel test pages for Goose Nova and that has been doubling as material to submit for a Maine Arts Commission Springboard Grant that I successfully submitted for a few days ago. Now I just have to wait until June to see if I got it!
I’m proud that I submitted it, and whatever happens with it happens. But now what? Do I take a break from the graphic novel for a month and continue with a straight-ahead writing project?
Do I continue with the graphic novel? I don’t know.
One more thing, and it’s only because I’m seeing this in the writing toolbar on squarespace’s website: everything you see here is written by me. It’s not AI-assisted. I’m not using AI to help me write any of this. Part of writing is the effort it takes to write and no way in hell am I going to let a machine do it for me.
Anyway…here’s some test pages for the graphic novel project! It’s digital watercolor and I think it looks pretty awesome.
Two-page spread for Goose Nova, testing out digital watercolor brushes in Procreate, as well as a limited color palette.
